Boer Goats
ABOUT BOER GOATS
The Boer goat is a breed of goat that was developed in South Africa in the early 1900s and is a popular breed for meat production. Their name is derived from the Afrikaans word Boer, meaning farmer.
The breed has a distinctive brown head and white body. They possess long, pendulous ears like the Nubian goats. They are very hardy and can adopt themselves with almost all types of weather and climate. Boer goats are noted for being docile, fast growing, and having high fertility rates. Does (females) are reported to have superior mothering skills as compared to other goat breeds. Does typically weigh between 90 to 100 kilograms, and bucks (males) between 110 to 135 kilograms
